BDI Acquires WPS Engineering, Expanding Bridge Inspection Services
Acquisition combines WPS Engineering’s TxDOT routine bridge inspection expertise with BDI’s specialized testing, monitoring, and structural evaluation capabilities
LOUISVILLE, CO – August 31, 2026 – BDI (Bridge Diagnostics, Inc.), a global provider of structural testing, monitoring, inspection, nondestructive evaluation (NDE), and consulting services, today announced its acquisition of WPS Engineering, LLC, a leading provider of bridge inspection services based in the Austin, Texas area.
Founded in 2003 by owners Will Schutz, P.E., and Domi Schutz, WPS Engineering has built its practice around a singular focus: delivering high-quality routine bridge inspections throughout the state of Texas. The firm is a qualified Prime Service Provider for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Bridge Inspection Program and has been awarded four consecutive TxDOT inspection contracts. WPS is also deeply experienced with AssetWise, TxDOT’s Bridge Management System, providing inspection reports and load rating support to districts across the state.
All WPS employees will join BDI, and the firm’s existing TxDOT contracts and district relationships will continue without interruption.
The companies’ service offerings are highly complementary. WPS performs the routine, cyclical inspections that form the backbone of the state’s bridge inspection program. BDI performs the specialized services that begin where routine inspection ends – in-depth evaluations, structural health monitoring, NDE, bridge preservation strategies, and asset management. Together, the combined organization can support bridge owners across the full lifecycle of an asset, from the first routine inspection cycle through advanced evaluation and long-term monitoring.

The acquisition builds on BDI’s recent investments in the Texas market, including the addition of Graham Bettis, P.E., former Director of the TxDOT Bridge Division and Texas State Bridge Engineer, who joined BDI as a Vice President in 2025.
