Engineer – Testing, Monitoring, & Engineering – Colorado & Pennsylvania

BDI is looking for an Engineer to join our team in Horsham, PA and Louisville, CO.  The successful candidate will work on all aspects of projects within our Testing, Monitoring, and Engineering Program. Tasks may include planning and implementing of testing/monitoring program on various structure types (dams, bridges, buildings), coordination with clients, field installation, field testing, interpretation of data, code-based calculations, and report writing. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a growth-oriented professional consulting group where you will work with and be mentored by senior technical staff.

Duties & Responsibilities

You will be working with a small team of professionals who are bringing cutting edge technology and innovation to the Testing, Evaluation, and Monitoring of Civil Infrastructure. Your primary responsibility will be to operate heavy equipment to allow the team to access the areas where the work is being performed. Projects are primarily related to the Transportation and Hydro-engineering sectors. Responsibilities associated with this position will include:

  • Performing various project engineer tasks
  • Development of instrumentation plans and testing documents
  • Project coordination, planning, and logistics
  • Significant physical labor while on jobsites
  • Working at heights
  • Jobsite engineering decision-making
  • Updating documents and photos once returned from field
  • Data review and interpretation
  • Report development and writing
  • Use of various design codes in analysis

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree of Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • EIT required
  • 0-8 years’ experience (structural design, structural analysis, or construction Management)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willing to travel (75% field work)
  • Willing to work out in the field
  • Experience with hand tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Instrumentation/testing/monitoring/structural health monitoring experience
  • PE, based of years of experience
  • AutoCAD experience
  • AASHTO experience
  • Programming experience (Matlab, Python, VBA, among others)
  • Construction industry experience
  • Finite element modeling experience
  • Load rating experience
  • Strong structural mechanics background

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation Range: $50,000 – $85,000 per year
