BDI was retained to perform load testing and rating on 14 railway bridges. Bridge types included thru girder, thru truss, steel beam, reinforced concrete, culvert bridge and were accessed via ropes access, lift vehicle, boats, and ladders. This large scale program allowed structurally deficient bridges to be more rigorously evaluated to allow ongoing maintenance programs to be implemented. Ongoing programs were implemented so that the testing results could be used into the future for rating other vehicles without BDI’s involvement. BDI’s in-house proprietary models were converted and supplied as STAAD (STructural Analysis And Design) models.
