AST1000 & VAST1000 Asphalt Strain Transducers

AST1000 & VAST1000 Asphalt Strain Transducers

Asphalt Strain Transducers and Vertical Asphalt Strain Transducers, AST & VAST, measure axial strain in flexible pavement providing high frequency, or dynamic, measurements. These low modulus, ruggedized sensors are built to withstand the high temperature and vibratory rolling required during asphalt placement.

To greatly reduce potential failure rates for these transducers, the gages use four active Wheatstone bridge elements on a single custom-built gage matrix to eliminate the need for fragile wiring for bridge completion. This gage area has armored protection for further protection against vibratory rolling during compaction operations. The transducers come with heat-resistant lead wire cable to further enhance survival rates against the high temperatures encountered during asphalt placement.

Each transducer passes dynamic calibration which better represents the actual use of the transducer. The Wheatstone full-bridge configuration circuit for these transducers is easily adaptable to most data acquisitions nd standard strain readout units. The 1000-Ohm gage circuit provides lower power demands and enhances signal-to-noise ratio output. Quality control documentation and calibration plots come packaged with each transducer.
